How It Works

Defined uses the Free Dictionary API to fetch word definitions. When you double-click a word, the extension:

  1. Captures the selected word
  2. Fetches the definition from the API
  3. Displays it in a styled popup bubble
  4. Optionally saves it to your local history

Your privacy is our priority. Defined:

  • Collects no analytics or personal data
  • Stores data only locally on your device
  • Makes no external requests except for definitions
